Can Buying SAP Apps Be As Easy As Going On Amazon? SAP’s Jonathan Becher Says Yes, It Can

SAP CEO Bill McDermott made it clear that SAP is focused on a new digital strategy during his recent keynote at ASUG Annual Conference and Sapphire Now. For McDermott, part of this means creating a consumer-like buying experience for SAP’s applications.

In his new position, Becher heads up a new business unit called SAP Digital, which is designed to go direct to application users. A crucial part of his plans include a newly launched SAP online store.

It’s simple for consumers to get apps whenever the mood strikes them, but in enterprises it’s typically a different story. Borrowing a page from successful consumer app stores, SAP has launched SAP Store, hoping to make software purchases just as easy on the business side.

“You can go from ‘I want to buy it’ to ‘I’m live on it’ in 15 minutes,” said Jonathan Becher, SAP’s chief digital officer.

SAP delivers first digital CRM app at $29 per user per month

Today, SAP announced its first digital for customer engagement (DCE) application, available on 30-day free trial but then costing $29/user/month. There is a SAPPHIRE NOW 2015 discount of 15% available on that figure.

“Brave the Shave” event at SAP in Palo Alto raises $65,000 for cancer research

The “brave the shave’ event held recently at SAP in Palo Alto had a festive air, with music and balloons and laughter, but the money raised that night is aimed at a very serious issue: childhood cancer. For SAP Vice  President Rob Glickman, it’s a cause that he has come to know all too well.

Jonathan Becher, Chief Digital Officer of SAP, along with Rob Glickman, served as emcees and kept the excitement alive all night.
