More Than 40 Peruvian CIOs Visited SAP in Palo Alto

Published July 6, 2017 by (Peru)

More than 40 Peruvian CIOs visited SAP’s innovation facilities in Palo Alto, California. It took place under the framework of the Common CIO Conference, organized by Common Peru, an organization that brings together system leaders from the country and the southern region of Latin America. The central theme of this year event was “digital transformation.” Jonathan Becher, Chief Digital Officer of SAP, welcomed and introduced the visitors to SAP Leonardo, SAP’s digital innovation system for a rapid and scalable digital transformation, which intelligently connect people, companies and things.

“At Silicon Valley we are committed to two premises. First, to create a culture of experimentation: instead of investing in a small number of big bets to accelerate innovation, we focus on a large number of small bets. The second, to adopt exponential thinking: instead of improving the present status quo incrementally, we consider disruptive approaches,” explained Becher.

The SU is an innovation and ideas workshop that was founded in Silicon Valley in 2009 with the aim of motivating executives through the use of training and support to deploy exponential technologies that address the major challenges facing mankind. The Singularity University has thus made a lot of progress. Their goal, however, perfectly reflects the vision of SAP to improve the processes of the global economy and the lives of people. The SU is strongly represented in Silicon Valley in particular. But also Europe and especially Berlin are important innovation locations.

“As the world’s leading provider of business software, SAP has been firmly rooted in Europe with its German headquarters for 45 years, making it an ideal partner to successfully launch the SU in Germany. [SAP Sapphire] Why did Software Company Make ‘SIM Card’ for IoT?

Published May 18, 2017 by Baek Ji Young, Digital Daily (Korea)Digital Daily

“We now create these. Isn’t it amazing? With these products, SAP is putting the ‘I’ in the Internet of Things (IoT). ”

Digital Daily met with Jonathan Becher, SAP’s chief digital officer (CDO), at SAP’s Sapphire NOW Annual Conference on Tuesday (17 June). His CDO position supports corporate ‘digitization,’ leading digital innovation. Becher showed us a SIM card, which he explained was born as part of this digital innovation. The name of this SIM card, released by SAP, is ‘IoT Connect 365’. It was created to simplify the connectivity of objects in IoT. SAP does not sell sim cards but charges them based on data exchanged through them. The chip is equipped with software that can check data usage status. Users can view and control the connectivity and data usage of IoT devices from a single user interface (UI) and API.

“This allows us to connect any device, such as tractors, toasters, toys, etc., to the SAP cloud,” Becher said. “This will also reduce the cost of IoT networks. This is the first hardware ever made by SAP. It’s a rare case.”

Transferring Data From Anywhere With One Nail-sized ‘Chip’

Published May 17, 2017 by Kim Ji-sung, CIO Biz (Korea)Home

In the IoT era, the network costs for communication between devices and systems are increasing. Cost reduction is important.

“If you have a chip with the size of a nail, you can collect and transmit data anywhere wireless communication is not possible. This resolves an issue where data collection was difficult due to unstable network conditions. SAP replaces the Internet role on the Internet of Things (IoT),” Jonathan Becher, SAP’s chief digital officer (CDO), said as he pulled out a palm-sized card during an interview at the Sapphire Now conference in Orlando, USA.

This card, similar to a SIM card, contains a nail-sized chip, responsible for data collection. Even where the internet environment is bad, data can be collected at any time.
